Thrive Ignite & Ignite Arc Elongated Review: On-Court Play & Drill Test

Thrive Ignite & Ignite Arc Elongated Review: On-Court Play & Drill Test

Quick Take

Thrive brought the Ignite's beloved feel to two elongated shapes and the results are impressive. The Arc variant in particular opens up sweet spot coverage in a way that feels unusually forgiving for an elongated paddle.

Ignite Elongated vs. Ignite Arc — Which Shape?

The standard Ignite Elongated (SW 114.71, TW 5.86) gives you a traditional elongated feel with a slightly higher swing weight for a bit more punch on drives. The Arc Elongated (SW 113.48, TW 5.71) is a touch lighter and faster through the air. Its arc geometry shifts more of the sweet spot toward the middle of the face, making off-center hits feel more forgiving than you'd expect from an elongated shape. If you mishit often on elongated paddles, the Arc is worth the upgrade.

On-Court Performance

Both Ignite elongated shapes carry the Thrive DNA that made the Pro Series such a fan favorite — soft 16mm core, excellent dwell time, and a satisfying ball feel on every shot type. Drives were controlled and accurate, dinks were soft and predictable, and third-shot drops came off with a repeatable arc. The Arc variant did show noticeably more forgiveness on off-center contacts during drill testing, making it the pick for players still refining their contact point.

Who Should Buy the Thrive Ignite Elongated?

  • Thrive fans who want the Ignite feel in an elongated shape
  • Elongated players who value forgiveness → choose the Arc
  • Players who want a precise, traditional elongated feel → choose the standard Ignite
  • Anyone looking for a sub-$150 elongated with tour-level touch

Verdict

Both Ignite elongated variants are excellent at $149.99. The Arc is the more forgiving choice; the standard is the more precise one. Use code PLAYBOOK for 10% off either version.
